Tire changers

Tire changers

Two changer families cover car work — the XP-316 line and the XP-326 line — with helper-arm variants for stiff low-profile tyres, a heavy-duty group reaching 28-inch rims, a dedicated motorcycle changer, and the XP-300 lifter that takes the wheel's weight between floor and turntable.

Fit check: a changer is chosen by the hardest tyre you fit weekly — its rim size, its sidewall stiffness and your daily volume — not by the easiest tyre you fit daily.

Two families, one turntable idea

The XP-316 family is the volume line: swing-arm changers turning at 7 rpm on 0.75/1.1 kW motors, clamping 10–20 inch rims from outside or 13–24 from inside in the A group, and stepping up to 12–25 / 15–28 inch clamping in the B group. The XP-326 family covers the same ground in its own A and D models, with a right-helper-arm variant (XP-326AR) in the line. Helper arms — the A950, B950 and B850 devices in the model codes — press the bead into the drop centre on run-flat and low-profile work, and they are what separates a changer that copes from a changer that earns.

Above the car families sit the heavy-duty models — the XP-316B+B850 group, clamping to 28 inches, and the XP-316E, stating a 14–28 inch rim size — for large SUV and light-truck wheels. Below the car families sits the XP-313MT motorcycle changer, with its own specification. The XP-300 wheel lifter belongs in every changer conversation: it lifts 65 kg wheels to turntable height, and it is the cheapest injury prevention in the tyre bay.

Checks before a changer quote

  • The largest rim diameter and widest tyre on your weekly work, not your average work.
  • Run-flat and low-profile volume: occasional stiff tyres, or a bay built on them — that decides the helper arm.
  • Air supply: changer and bead blast draw on the compressor, so size them together.
  • Whether one machine or a changer-balancer pair is the real purchase.
  • Floor space for the arm swing path, plus the wheel staging beside the machine.

Questions buyers ask about tire changers

Which family should a first changer come from?

The XP-316A group is the natural first machine for mixed car work; step into the B group when your rims regularly pass 20 inches, and into the heavy-duty group when 28-inch fitments are weekly. Take the clamping tables from the detail pages to make the call.

Do I need the helper arm?

For occasional low-profile work, technique and lubricant cope; for daily run-flat fitments the helper arm stops being optional — it is the difference between a five-minute fit and a damaged rim. Say what you fit, and ask for the machine to be specified against that list in writing.

Can arms and jaws damage alloy rims?

Plastic jaw protectors and correct mounting-head clearance are the answer, and both are operating practice as much as machine specification. Take the clamping arrangements model by model from the detail pages.
